We have over 25 years experience as Aquatic Engineers. Unlike our competitors Olympic owns and operates all plant and equipment giving us a stronghold as we do not rely on subcontractors. All our staff are CSCS CPCS Holders with RYA Safety boat certification. Within these pages are some examples of our aquatic engineering projects and services.

Olympic specialises in innovative Bioengineering Solutions on SSSi SAC Status sites. Approved contractors for the Broads Authority, Natural England and the Environment Agency means you can be assured of the standards achieved. We use low impact methods on award winning contracts.

River Restoration

River Restoration

Olympic can help prevent erosion of river banks using techniques from timber to steel sheet piling or more traditional bio engineering methods using brushwood faggots, gabion baskets or floating reed fringes to create habitat and allow the binding of suspended solids to create a natural revetment.

Silt Curtains

Olympic can design and build Silt Curtains to suit our customers requirements. Our in-house team have 18 years of experience and designed and installed the Barton Broad Clearwater 2000 project fish barriers. We also hire silt curtains, please call and we can discuss your requirements in detail.

Floating Reed Beds

Our floating reed islands are constructed in the UK and specifically designed to each application. They are built using high quality materials with built in safety factors allowing access for removal of rubbish and maintenance. Full plant design is available for various applications from Phragmites for water purification to fish refuge.

Pond Restoration

Olympic has worked on many urban pond projects. We can offer the options of on site silt disposal to reduce the need for removal off site thereby creating a wildlife habitat within cities. This has been demonstrated in many of the Royal Parks. From removal of trees to an entire project from design to completion.

Monorail

The use of the monorail has proven time and time again in many applications. The Itchen navigation required a 30 meter river crossing with 1 kilometre of bank repairs. There were over 1800 tons of chalk to be moved into site and over 1500 tons of top soil to be moved, this was achieved with little effort and no impact on this SSSI / SAC site.

Aquatic Marginals

The use of installing reed fringes has many uses; erosion protection, wildlife habitat, water enhancement, etc. Olympic can design and install the best quality plants with local provenance to guarantee quality we can also install wildfowl fencing to protect in the early years. This combined with dredging and using the silts to build up eroded banks offers a complete restoration.

Boat Shed / Decking

For many years Olympic has been supplying and installing hard, soft or ecoplastic decking for board walks, viewing platforms, marinas, jetties etc. We have years of experience constructing or maintainging boat sheds. At Olympic we also supply bird hides to your specification. Please see our gallery for completed projects and more information.

Plant Hire

Olympic can supply excavators from 8 to 21 tonnes including long reach excavators and low ground pressure excavators. pontoon hire with hiabs, winches, or self propelled. We also supply barges, work boats or plastic work platforms. We also have stump grinders, flail mowers and grapples. Please see our full plant list or contact us with your requirements.
